The switch from analog to digital broadcasting is finally drawing near, which is making a frenzy of Americans looking to upgrade their television sets before analog broadcasting is a thing of the past. Now it seems that people will have four more months to switch their sets.
There was a month long debate about extending the deadline and about technology upgrade, and the US House of Representatives voted Wednesday in a count of 264 to 158 in favor of the extension. The White House spokesperson said that the Obama administration would, “continue to work with Congress to improve the information and assistance available to American consumers in advance of June 12, especially those in the most vulnerable communities.”
With so many people already prepared for the switch to digital, it seems odd that they would push back to switch, especially for four months. As a mass communication major I have been hearing about this switch for 2 years now. It has been hyped up, like most of technology, to be this big reveal or big switch to something. Everyone with a television in America knows that the switch is coming soon but I bet that barely any of them know the date has been pushed back.

So you think this delay is unnecessary?
