Fake Twitter
"When Stars Twitter, a Ghost May Be Lurking"
Twitter is a growing and ever popular blogging site, especially among the celebrities in the United States. They started "tweeting" to reach fans and to relate to their audiences, but recent reports from the New York Times say that these celebs are using ghost writers rather than taking the time to do it themselves. Needless to say, outrage is ensuing among fans.
In this article they call out the rapper 50 Cent for having a ghost writer, Chris Romeo. The writer wrote those words on the rapper's site after getting the information from a recent interview 50 Cent had done. “He doesn’t actually use Twitter,” Mr. Romero said of 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, “but the energy of it is all him.”
Twitter has become an important marketing tool for celebrities, but how can it be credible when it is not the actual celebrity? It then becomes the same thing as agents and representatives making statements about the celebrities they are working for. The good thing about celebrities using twitter is that it does connect them to their fan base, but people are going to stop believing their blogs if they know that the content is not written personally.
